Google Adds Generative Study Tools to Search and Gemini

Google has added new AI study tools to Search and the Gemini app. The update features interactive visuals, simulations, practice quizzes, study tools, and a student hub.

In Google Search, AI Overviews can now show interactive visuals for academic topics. Students can ask follow-up questions in AI Mode to create custom simulations that explain a concept in more detail. For example, a student studying chemistry can ask Google to place different citrus fruits on a pH scale.

Students can upload documents, PDFs, slides, and other study materials, then ask Google to turn them into summaries or study aids such as notebooks and flashcards. These notebooks can use a student's actual class material to create a study plan, quiz the student, figure out weak areas, and track progress.

Finally, interactive 3D visualizations in Gemini allow students to ask for models like DNA structure or a pendulum simulation.
