Globalscale Technologies' Case8 Cyberdeck Targets Gaming, Home Automation, and Education

Globalscale Technologies has become the latest firm to throw its hat into the commercial cyberdeck ring, launching a crowdfunding campaign to produce a customizable gadget powered by an octa-core Mediatek Genio 520/720 computer-on-module: the Case8.

"Whether you are building your home automation hub or an AI [Artificial Intelligence] assistant the issue is the same," claims Globalscale's Richard Cheng of the problem his company promises to solve. "You need powerful hardware and software to make things work properly. If you want the best in hardware from the large corporations you need to pay for it by either paying subscriptions, losing privacy, or becoming a product that the companies harvests data from. If you want an open-source alternate you are typically stuck building on a Raspberry Pi and adding HAT [Hardware Attached on Top] modules which have a high cost for dated hardware and unreliable power management.
