German Utility Offers Special Energy Plans For Gamers
A German utility company is now offering bespoke energy tariffs for gamers, matching more demanding gaming systems and schedules with more favorable rates. The heaviest gamers will get lower hourly electricity rates but a higher standing charge, in a real use-it-or-lose-it distribution model.
The tariffs, according to Computer Base (translated by TechSpot), are collected under the "meinGAMING" banner and come in three flavors: Casual Gamer, Pro Gamer, and Gaming Household. The first reportedly targets those who game about 10 hours per week, with an estimated annual electricity usage of 2,500kWh.
In contrast, the Pro Gamer tier assumes around 30 hours of gaming per week, raising yearly electricity usage estimates to 3,500kWh. The Gaming Household tier raises that to 5,000kWh and is designed for households with multiple gaming systems, streamers, or families who collectively play over 50 hours per week.
