Gemini Could Soon Make Quick Outbound Calls to Friends and Family

In September, Google began testing a Gemini feature that allows AI to call customer service on your behalf. Now, an APK teardown suggests Gemini's Call for Me is preparing to expand to brief personal calls.

With the current Call for Me beta, Pixel 11 users with paid Gemini subscriptions can have Gemini call a business and ask for things like store hours, product availability, and pricing information. The AI can also wait on hold, book a reservation, and manage active appointments.

This week, Android Authority found some hints at personal Call for Me tasks in a forthcoming update. A new intro screen shows examples like "Call Mom and say I'll be 15 minutes late" and "Call John and ask if he's coming for dinner." These seem like quick calls meant to handle basic exchanges with contacts who—let's face it—might just suck at answering texts.
