Gartner, Inc., a business and technology insights company, today announced its list of top strategic technology trends that organizations need to explore in 2027.

“The critical friction today is that AI systems operate in an architectural vacuum, generating software faster than humans can review it, creating unmanaged credential paths and binding processes to single-source vendor monopolies,” said Gene Alvarez, Distinguished VP Analyst at Gartner. “To prevent this systemic exposure, organizations must move from a passive observer of model capabilities to an active architect of organization, human and machine boundaries.”

The ten strategic technology trends for 2027 are:

Large Quantitative Models

Deploying general-purpose language models for numerical tasks triggers severe accuracy and compliance risks due to probabilistic guessing. Transitioning to large quantitative models (LQMs) – modular, hybrid neural network architectures built to process and analyze quantitative data – shifts decision-making from reactive troubleshooting to proactive simulation.
