GalaxEye Acquires StarOps To Build In-House Satellite Capabilities
GalaxEye has acquired Bengaluru-based spacecraft engineering company StarOps. The deal brings StarOps’ satellite engineering team, spacecraft platforms and subsystem technologies into GalaxEye as the company works to expand its Earth observation capabilities.
StarOps traces its origins to TeamIndus, one of India’s early private space ventures. Several members of its engineering team previously worked on the Lunar Lander and Rover at TeamIndus, according to the companies. StarOps was incorporated in 2022 with a focus on satellite platforms and the development of indigenous spacecraft technologies.
The acquisition gives GalaxEye access to capabilities spanning spacecraft systems engineering, mission operations, propulsion, avionics, flight computing, guidance and navigation, structures and mechanisms, electrical systems, program management and ground operations.
For GalaxEye, the strategic value is less about adding another business unit and more about bringing parts of spacecraft development that are often spread across multiple suppliers closer to its own operations.
