Future OLED Macs and iPads Rumored to Offer Major Color Upgrade
We've all heard the rumors by now about Apple's plan to incorporate OLED panels into future MacBooks and iPads. But according to a new report, this won't just be any OLED. Eventually, certain Apple devices could feature OLED displays capable of offering about 95% of the BT.2020 color range—more shades than sRGB and DCI-P3 displays and ideal for HDR video.
The BT.2020 range can display colors closer to the limits of human vision, producing richer reds, more vivid greens, and clearer blues without appearing unnatural. According to TrendForce's "latest AMOLED technology and market report," Apple will gradually adopt this standard over several product cycles, prioritizing higher-end models such as the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro before adding it to other devices.
