From Words to Code: Pivoting My Translation Career Through Shipaton 2026

When people ask me what I do, my answer used to be straightforward: I’m a professional translator.

For years, my work revolved around bridging linguistic divides: translating nuances, intent, and complex terms across languages. But the translation industry was one of the very first sectors to feel the seismic shift of modern AI. Rather than viewing that change as a barrier, I saw it as a clear signal: we have to evolve.

I’ve always loved building websites and bringing digital ideas to life, but without a traditional computer science background, turning complex concepts into real software used to feel like hitting a glass ceiling. AI completely unlocked that for me. About a year ago, I entered my first hackathon; and I haven't looked back since.
