From documents to agreements - Docusign's long road to Intelligent Agreement Management
At its Momentum London 2026 conference, Docusign demonstrated progress toward a long-standing vision for Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM). The big deal was progress on two fronts: the background infrastructure for decomposing signed documents into structured agreements, and an agentic layer on top supporting new workflows for different users.
Its execution is showing real dividends under the stewardship of CEO Allan Thygesen, who took the helm in October 2022 with the difficult task of modernizing a company whose dominance in the document-with-a-signature market stood in the way of a potentially much larger market for IAM. The bones of the pivot arrived with the 2020 acquisition of Seal Software, a UK pioneer of contract analytics that proved hard to digest, and the broader strategy it fed into remained what Thygesen himself acknowledged was mostly "marketecture."
But after two years, Thygesen's leadership has been demonstrating real bottom-line progress on the strategy. IAM passed...
