Everypin's PwrBlock 323 Delivers a Programmable Power Supply for Automated Test Rigs
Finnish firm Everypin has opened crowdfunding for the PwrBlock 323, an open-hardware programmable power supply designed for use in automated testing — allowing for programmatic voltage and current control and measurement.
"PwrBlock 323 puts software-controlled DUT [Device Under Test] power directly inside an automated test fixture," Everypin's Ivan Larionov explains. "A test script can set the output voltage and current limit, switch the output on or off, measure voltage and current, and power-cycle the device under test as part of the same automated sequence."
The problem with most existing programmable power supplies, Larionov claims, is that they are designed to be a separate device to a test fixture — taking up additional desk space, complicating wiring, and often requiring fiddling with front-panel controls. "Low-cost embedded power modules are more compact," he adds, "but they may lack stable software interfaces, protection, or sufficient documentation. PwrBlock 323 fills the gap between these...
