ESP32 Meets Brass Frame in This One-of-a-Kind Handheld

There is plenty of cheap and accessible hardware available these days that makes it easy to build a retro gaming handheld. With the right development board, display, and open source software, you can put together a capable little console in a matter of hours. And if you have a 3D printer, you can wrap everything up in a nice enclosure that looks almost like a commercial product. But Huy Vector went the extra mile to create a tiny console that is truly unique.

Rather than designing a PCB or 3D-printing an enclosure, Vector built the handheld around a skeleton made from 2 mm hollow brass tubing. He started by tracing the outline of a 2.4-inch IPS display onto paper, then bent the tubing to form rectangular frames for the front and back. Four 8 cm pieces connect those together at the corners, creating a rigid structure that leaves the electronics...
