As India pushes aggressively into electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles (EVs), medical devices and semiconductor-led innovation, an often-overlooked challenge of testing and compliance infrastructure is quietly emerging behind the scenes
Speaking during a media tour of Intertek's newly launched Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and wireless testing facility in Bengaluru, company executives said the country's manufacturing ambitions will require significantly greater testing capacity if domestic firms are to meet both Indian and international certification requirements.
The new facility, which became operational earlier this year, marks the quality assurance provider's first EMC laboratory in India and has been designed to support manufacturers developing products ranging from EV components and medical devices to industrial automation systems, connected appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) products.
