For years, the growth of GCCs was often measured through the number of people they employed and the size of the operations they handled. But as India-based centres take on product engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, digital platforms, and intellectual property (IP) ownership, the more important question is increasingly what these teams are empowered to do.
The shift is also changing the talent equation. Enterprises are competing for specialised skills, but hiring more people may not be enough to keep pace with technologies that are evolving faster than traditional recruitment cycles.
