In the sweltering heat of an early July weekend in Madrid, singer-songwriter Lorde paused during her set to swig from her signature rainbow-hued water bottle. As she thanked the crowd for being there and being part of “something real,” she took a swing at something that’s increasingly becoming an object of ire and suspicion.
