Clumsy speeches by bankers and headline-making redundancies in tech firms have added to the existing fear that artificial intelligence (AI) is about to take your job. Yet a set of studies reveals that overall, the global digital careers market is in good health. Pay rates continue to increase, as does flexible working. Some entrenched problems remain, well entrenched.

The sentiment across the 2026 Global Tech Talent and Salary Report from Harvey Nash is positive. Yes, recruiters do like a positive spin, but the survey of over 3,000 technologists in all economies suggests that tech is a good place to be in the enterprise, and many realize this.
