Desktop WALL-E Robot Talks, Sees, and Roams
Building a convincing WALL-E replica is one thing. Building one with the ability to carry on a conversation, recognize objects, and drive itself around is another. In a new project, maker Huy Vector combines 3D printing, an ESP32-S3, and modern AI services to create an interactive desktop version of Pixar's robot that doesn't just look the part — it can chat, see, and react to the world around it just like the one depicted on screen.
To make this possible, Vector packs in seven servos to control the head, neck, arms, and other articulated joints, allowing WALL-E to tilt its head, look around, and gesture naturally while speaking. Two 12 V DC motors drive a pair of continuous tracks, letting it roam across a desk or tabletop.
