DeLonghi’s bean-to-cup coffee machine let me ‘dial up my preferred take on a whole host of drinks in seconds’ — but I found it couldn’t quite serve up the ‘wonderfully extracted espresso’ I was craving

As a fully-automatic bean-to-cup machine, the De’Longhi Eletta Ultra comes crammed with every feature you could want. It offers an enormous range of drink presets, lets you personalize your drinks for different times of day and save them to personal profiles, and manages the whole process of producing your coffee from wire to wire. Unfortunately, the only area I found it to be lacking was when it comes to the drinks themselves, which are often good, rather than the great standard I would expect from a device at this price.

Pros

  • +Over 50 drink presets
  • +Customizable across four profiles and three times of day
  • +Fast, quiet running
  • +Incredibly user friendly

Cons

  • -Coffee is good rather than great
  • -Pretty average looks
  • -Not the cheapest
