The XPS 13 is Dell’s answer to Apple’s MacBook Neo, which reset expectations for what a budget laptop could be. The XPS 13 is a strong reply and gives students and other cash-strapped shoppers a compact, well-built and fast-enough-for-basic-things laptop for the same $700 as the Neo. Dell also offers the same $100 student discount as Apple (at least for the moment), bringing the XPS 13 down to just $600.
