‘Dark Matter’: What’s Ahead in Season 2 and Revisiting Season 1 of Apple TV’s Twisty Sci-Fi Hit
Dark Matter, created by Blake Crouch (the author of the book it’s based on), returns for its second season on Friday, Aug. 28, on Apple TV. The sci-fi thriller posits the existence of a quantum superposition device (which I’ll refer to as the box from here on out), a tool used to kidnap and relocate a Chicago college professor named Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton). It turns out his attacker was himself, just a different version from an alternate reality who was hell-bent on stealing his life.
This odd switcharoo is how the twisty series kicks off, which finds Jason 1 doing anything and everything he can to get back to his wife, Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and son, Charlie (Oakes Fegley), while Jason 2 does his best to blend in and convince folks he’s not an imposter but the real deal.
