What we know so far: Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film, with game developer CD Projekt Red serving as a producer alongside Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The adaptation offers filmmakers a dystopian world where technology threatens personal identity and corporations wield enormous power over everyday life. How faithfully the film will explore these themes remains an open question, as the partnership has been announced but the adaptation's creative direction is still undefined.
No director, cast, or release date has been announced. The project will draw on a universe where an implanted chip can carry another person's consciousness – and threaten to erase its host.
