CSA opens certification for Zigbee sub-GHz extension Suzi

The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) has opened its Product Certification Program for Suzi, Zigbee’s new sub-GHz extension.

The programme follows the Alliance’s earlier rollout of Zigbee 4.0 and gives device makers a formal route to certify sub-GHz hardware for interoperability, security, and performance. It covers products operating outside Zigbee’s established 2.4 GHz band, in frequencies such as 800 MHz in Europe and 900 MHz in North America.

The Alliance ties the launch to a wider goal of bringing standardised, long-range, low-power, and interoperable IoT products to market on the existing Zigbee ecosystem.

Extending beyond the 2.4 GHz band

Zigbee has operated as a low-power mesh networking standard built around the 2.4 GHz radio band that it shares with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and Suzi now adds a sub-GHz layer on top of that established network.
