Chrome for Android Gets Approximate Location Sharing for Each Website Separately

Google has launched approximate location sharing in Google Chrome for Android devices. Thanks to this, users will now have more control over their location data when browsing. The feature lets users share only their general neighborhood area instead of exact GPS coordinates, potentially improving privacy, while still offering utility for sites and services.

Chrome now shows two options when a website requests location access: Precise for exact location and Approximate for neighborhood-level location. Users can then choose which level of accuracy each website gets from them through a prompt.

Users can share approximate location when checking local weather forecasts, viewing regional news content, or getting general area information. Or maybe checking if a particular product is deliverable in your area or not. The company says the precise location remains available for services that genuinely need it, like placing delivery orders, finding the closest ATM, etc.
