China's CXMT Starts LPDDR6 Mass Production Ahead Of Samsung & SK Hynix
Fifth-generation DDR SDRAM, known more commonly as DDR5, launched in its "LP" form with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 in February of 2020. Those chips were first found in the Xiaomi Mi 10 smartphone. It's been almost seven years since then, and the growing demand for memory bandwidth has never abated, so it's about time to transition to DDR6, or at least, LPDDR6. China's up-and-comer in the memory market, Changxin Memory Technology (CXMT), has just beaten its larger rivals to the punch to become the very first to announce mass production of LPDDR6 memory, and Xiaomi will once again be the first to use it.
