Cashfree Brings WebMCP To Checkout As AI Agent Payments Go Live

Cashfree’s Checkout for Agents will begin processing live transactions on November 6, 2026. It lets artificial intelligence (AI) agents move through payment checkout pages on a user’s behalf, while the customer approves the payment and completes authentication, co-founder Reeju Datta told CiOL.

The feature is built on WebMCP, an emerging standard. It is on by default for merchants using Cashfree’s hosted checkout, payment forms and payment links. Merchants do not need to change their integrations to accept payments from customers who shop through AI agents.

“The Checkout for Agents is not processing live transactions yet. They would start processing them starting 6th Nov 2026,” Datta said. He added that the feature is already available to merchants on these products.
