Prediction is just human nature…
The art of prediction has been deeply integrated into human history since, well, forever. In Ancient Greece for examples, societies frequently relied on public speculation, and probabilistic judgment around such significant activities as wars, harvests, political outcomes and even the weather. While a far cry away from the advanced, high tech tools currently in use today, the basic systems used align with the current need to aggregate information in order to reduce uncertainty.
A clear progression can be seen from the use of collective beliefs and speculation, to the use of markets to price future uncertainty, to political betting, and extending into real-time forecasting systems for financial markets. Modern prediction markets turned probabilities intro tradable information, and now, we have come full circle to arrive at AI native platforms helping humans to process all of this intelligence at scale.
