Infrastructure planning is becoming too complex for old methods alone. Roads, cities, utilities and transport networks now need to be planned around more data, more variables and much larger populations. This is where AI and geospatial engineering can make a real difference. Geospatial systems show what is happening on the ground. AI can help make sense of that information faster. The point is not to hand planning decisions to machines. That would be a mistake. The real value lies in giving engineers and planners better information before they commit money, time and resources. India is already moving in this direction. Its geospatial economy reached INR 1.38 lakh crore in 2025, including workforce value, with a professional talent base of 6.65 lakh. That scale shows how important location based information has become to the country’s infrastructure ambitions.
