Broadcom Boosts VMware Private Cloud Security With vDefend, Avi

Broadcom has introduced new capabilities across VMware vDefend and VMware Avi Load Balancer, strengthening security for private cloud, Kubernetes and AI workloads running on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).

The updates span several layers of enterprise security, including lateral threat protection, API security, malware prevention, virtual patching and application delivery. Broadcom is also adding AI-assisted operations and migration tools as enterprises contend with increasingly complex private cloud environments.

The new capabilities arrive as AI workloads create additional infrastructure and security requirements, particularly around high-volume east-west traffic, APIs and Kubernetes-based applications.

“As AI-fueled cyberattacks and vulnerability exploits redefine the threat landscape, a fragmented security approach is no longer an option,” said Umesh Mahajan, vice president and general manager, Application Networking and Security Division, Broadcom.
