Britain now has its very own AI Taskforce, but why is there no single throat to choke on delivery?

The UK’s latest new Prime Minister has been in situ now for a week and has made all the major political appointments up his sleeve as well as announcing a number of policy decisions. How has tech policy fared? And is the seventh PM in a decade as committed to the cause of making the UK an AI superpower as his immediate predecessors, Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer, were keen to be seen to be?

On a positive note, one of the actions taken by Andy Burnham has been to set up a new AI Taskforce. The taskforce’s fundamental purpose will be the direction and implementation of the government’s strategy on AI. It will also lead on enabling transformation and AI adoption across the public sector.
