India's cloud market is entering a more complicated phase. Enterprises are no longer deciding only whether to move workloads to the cloud. They are asking where their data resides, how much control they retain over infrastructure, what AI workloads will cost at scale, and whether relying heavily on a handful of global cloud providers creates new operational or commercial dependencies.

The rise of AI is making those discussions harder. GPU-intensive workloads bring a different cost structure, while regulated industries continue to face requirements around data residency, security, and compliance. At the same time, multicloud strategies promise greater flexibility but can make enterprise infrastructure more difficult to manage.

For domestic cloud providers, this creates an opening but also a difficult competitive equation. They cannot simply replicate the scale of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. They have to show where local infrastructure, pricing predictability, data control, and workload-specific architectures offer enterprises...
