Beyond experience: AI and business transformation are reshaping executive search in India

The most difficult leadership roles to fill today aren’t necessarily those requiring the most experience or the most impressive credentials. They are the ones where the business priorities are changing faster than the definition of the role. This is an increasing challenge for India Inc, as artificial intelligence, changing customer expectations and new operating models are changing the way organizations compete.
The implications go far beyond recruitment. Each senior hire is a signpost for how a company intends to operate in the face of uncertainty, to allocate assets and to create long-term value. But the process of hiring executives has been based on the assumption that past success is the best predictor of future performance. This assumption deserves closer scrutiny as industries undergo structural change.
