Berlin fears France’s Palantir rival is a new dependency, Politico reports
France and Germany spent the summer agreeing that Europe needs its own battlefield AI. They have not agreed on whose it should be.
Internal German government notes seen by Politico Europe show Berlin is wary of Arcadia, the French-built Palantir rival. The worry is that adopting it would trade reliance on an American company for reliance on a French one. Chris Lunday and Laura Kayali reported the documents on 3 September. TNW has not seen the notes and has not independently verified them.
The German assessment is blunt. “Engagement with Arcadia must not undermine national efforts to build a sovereign data-integration platform,” it says, according to Politico. The same note accepts that Germany will still have to share information with the French system, so that anything Berlin builds later can work alongside it.
