Banana Pi Preps an New Compute Module Based Around the Low-Cost Allwinner H618 System-on-Chip
Banana Pi is preparing to launch a new computer-on-module, and compatible carrier board, built around the Allwinner H618 system-on-chip: the BPI-CM7.
"Banana Pi BPI-CM7 is an Allwinner H618 compute module with LPDDR4 memory, eMMC storage, K019 Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, and two 100-pin board-to-board connectors," the company writes of its latest hardware design. "[The] Banana Pi BPI-CM7IO board is designed for Banana Pi BPI-CM7."
Banana Pi has a new computer-on-module waiting in the wings: a cost-reduced Allwinner H618-based competitor to the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5. (đź“·: Banana Pi)
Designed to offer competition to Raspberry Pi's popular Compute Module family of computers-on-modules, the Banana Pi BPI-CM7 is built to a definite budget. Where Raspberry Pi's latest Compute Module 5 range has a Broadcom BCM2712 system-on-chip with four Arm Cortex-A76 cores running at up to 2.4GHz, the Allwinner H618 at the heart of the BPI-CM7 has four older Cortex-A53 cores...
