Banana Pi Launches 15-TOPS Board for Vision AI Applications
The market for edge AI hardware continues to grow as interest in moving applications out of the cloud and onto local devices increases. Making this move could not only reduce processing latency, but also cut costs and enhance privacy. For everything from smart cameras to industrial inspection systems, developers are finding that they need hardware that can process visual data quickly without relying on a remote server. Banana Pi's latest hardware was built specifically for these applications.
The new BPI-AI2N combines a tiny system-on-module with an accompanying carrier board built around Renesas' RZ/V2N processor. The module is designed for vision AI applications, pairing a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor running at 1.8 GHz with Renesas' DRP-AI3 accelerator capable of delivering up to 15 TOPS using sparse models, or 4 TOPS with dense workloads.
