AWS Brings OpenAI GPT-5.6 Models To India, Targeting Production AI

AWS has announced the general availability of OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Terra and Luna models on Amazon Bedrock in India. The models are available with in-country inferencing, meaning inference is processed on AWS infrastructure in India.

The move gives organizations in sectors including financial services, healthcare, public sector and startups access to OpenAI models locally through Amazon Bedrock. More importantly, it places the models inside an enterprise cloud environment where customers already have security, governance and operational controls in place.

The announcement points to a broader shift in enterprise AI adoption: the question is no longer simply which model performs best, but how easily that model can be deployed within an organization's existing technology and governance framework.
