Night Shyamalan movie felt so soulless and devoid of humor that it was considered one of the worst live-action adaptations ever. Vocal Avatar fans hated it to the point of denying that it even existed.
Now, in 2026, there’s another movie with “The Last Airbender” in its title, and the situation couldn’t be more different. Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, premiering on Paramount Plus on July 25, is an animated sequel to the original show. Creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have crafted a new story that takes place 13 years after Aang defeats Fire Lord Ozai. And this time, none of the characters’ names are mispronounced.
