Audio-Technica AT-LP7X review: a beautiful and easy to use turntable that's just a shade off excellent, sonically speaking
Impressively specified, simple to set up and operate, and built to last — the AT-LP7X has plenty to admire even before it’s playing a record. Its sound has lots going for it, too, but its slightly disinterested sonic character makes it less of an all-rounder than it otherwise would be.
Reasons to buy
- +balanced, detailed and rhythmically adept sound
- +integrated, switchable MM/MC phono stage
- +good-looking in a sturdily functional kind of way
Reasons to avoid
- -rather matter-of-fact in its sonic attitude, because…
- -… the phono stage is bang average
- -some extremely stiff competition
