As AI Agents Enter The Enterprise, Data Access Becomes The Security Bottleneck
AI agents are moving enterprise AI from answering questions to taking action. They can retrieve information, interact with business systems and work toward an outcome with less human intervention. But as agents become more capable, they also need access to more enterprise data, creating a security challenge that extends beyond protecting the underlying model.
For enterprises, the question is increasingly not whether an AI agent can access data, but which data it can access, in what context and under whose authority.
Roshmik Saha, CTO, Skyflow, says enterprises will need to rethink how they manage data access across agents, applications and enterprise systems. In his view, centralized and fine-grained controls will become increasingly important as organizations deploy agents across more business functions.
Saha spoke on the sidelines of the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit 2026, held on September 21-22 in Mumbai.
