Around 65% of U.S. Healthcare Executives Prioritize AI Investments for 2026, says survey

Artificial intelligence has emerged as the top technology investment priority for U.S. healthcare organizations heading into 2026, but most providers, payers and health-tech firms are still struggling to build the foundations needed to deploy AI at scale, according to a new industry survey.

The State of AI in Healthcare 2026 survey by Emids, conducted in partnership with ServiceNow, found that 65% of senior healthcare executives rank AI and automation as their top investment priority for next year. Yet 59% of organizations remain in the early or developing stages of AI maturity, highlighting a gap between AI ambitions and operational readiness.

The survey, based on responses from 75 senior executives across healthcare segments, found that only 19% of organizations have begun scaling AI across business units, while just 8% reported mature AI programs delivering measurable returns.
