Around 445 of 519 Devices Showed Security Gaps in Maharashtra Village, Cyber Initiative Launched

Around 445 of the 519 mobile devices checked in Arjuni village in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district had five or more security gaps, while 623 harmful or suspicious apps were detected, according to Quick Heal Foundation’s Cyber Shikshit Gaon initiative.

Arjuni has an estimated population of 1,406. A baseline survey covering 273 households identified 675 mobile users, including 539 smartphone users. A subsequent security check-up assessed 519 mobile devices across nine security parameters. Of the households surveyed, 193 reported using the internet daily, while 155 said they used UPI regularly or occasionally. The initiative aims to make Arjuni India’s first cyber-safe village.
