Arduboy Goes Full Color with the CHGame Rev0 Handheld
Open source handheld game systems are great platforms for learning to program and experimenting with hardware, but keeping the price low can be difficult. Displays, batteries, processors, PCBs, and all of the other little components add up quickly. CHGame Rev0 from Arduboy is a new handheld platform that is heavily focused on making the hardware as inexpensive as possible, which is refreshing in a world where high-end Raspberry Pis sell for over $300.
The first units are now available as a $39 development kit. This isn't quite a finished handheld console yet. Instead, buyers get a bare circuit board intended to give developers and hardware hackers an early start while work continues on the final design.
