Arattai Adds Aadhaar Verification, But How Much Identity Does Messaging Need?
Messaging platforms are facing a difficult balance. Users want private conversations, but they also need ways to identify accounts that may be impersonating individuals, organizations or other users.
That stress is becoming more relevant as spam, impersonation and digital fraud affect everyday online communication. Arattai, Zoho Corporation’s messaging and VoIP platform, introduced an optional Aadhaar-based identity verification feature, adding another identity signal to its messaging platform without making verification mandatory.
Through the feature, users can verify their identity through the Aadhaar app and receive a permanent green verification badge. Users can also choose to receive messages only from verified accounts. Arattai says it does not store users' Aadhaar details.
Available Across Mobile And Desktop
The Aadhaar verification feature is available across iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. Users can start the process from their profile settings by selecting “Get Verified” and then choosing “Verify with Aadhaar app".
