Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 Earn Disappointing 4/10 iFixit Score

iFixit has torn down the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, and the wearables were disappointing in terms of repairability. Both models earned a rating of just 4 out of 10, meaning repairs will be challenging for most users.

Despite its mediocre score, the Series 12 improves on the Series 11, which earned a 3. But the Ultra 4 maintains the same difficult repair path as earlier Ultra versions.

The Series 12 now has a stretch‑release adhesive pull tab for the battery, which lets technicians remove the cell more easily than prying it out. iFixit points out that there's now an easier press-style display connector instead of the old ZIF connector and tape. Now you know why its rating rose by 1.

The Ultra 4 didn't get these improvements. Its internals and repair steps stay the same as Ultra 1 through Ultra 3.

Both watches still require repairers...
