Apple Reportedly Developing Screen-Free Fitness Band

Apple is reportedly developing early prototypes of a screen-free health and fitness tracker, much like the Whoop or the Fitbit Air. But don't hold your breath: Even if Apple finds the project worthwhile, a debut is unlikely before 2028, Bloomberg says.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is months deep into exploring this category and has settled on prototypes incapable of showing a watch face, apps, notifications, or playback controls. Instead, the wrist wearable focuses entirely on tracking health data and workouts, supplementing—but not replacing—devices like the Apple Watch.

Apple isn't sure whether it will actually release the device, and it's unclear whether its sensors would allow it to capture EEG, blood oxygen, skin temperature, blood pressure, blood glucose, sleep stats, or even GPS.
