Apple gave Tim Cook a leaving party on Sunday, a week before he stops being its chief executive.
About 200 people attended, almost all of them Apple employees, at the Caffè Macs cafeteria on the company’s Cupertino campus. OneRepublic played. Aaron Tilley reported the evening for The Information, citing a person who was there.
The timing carried its own message. Cook marked 15 years as chief executive the following day, and he hands the job to John Ternus on 1 September.
Who spoke
Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, paid tribute. So did Jeff Williams, the chief operating officer who worked alongside Cook for years and retired in 2025.
Eddy Cue, who runs Apple’s services and health business, also spoke. So did Ternus, who currently leads hardware engineering.
