Apple and LG Reportedly Develop Smart Home Devices
Apple’s next smart home move wears someone else’s name tag.
Apple and LG Electronics are developing a lineup of connected-home devices designed to work with Apple’s upcoming smart home ecosystem, according to Bloomberg.
The reported lineup includes a wired video doorbell, smart deadbolt, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor camera, outdoor camera and floodlight camera. The products will carry LG branding, with LG handling manufacturing and product support while Apple helps shape their design, features and engineering.
The devices are expected to work alongside Apple’s new smart home hub, an upgraded HomePod mini and a new TV set-top box. Apple is expected to introduce its own devices on Oct. 13, although the LG accessories are not expected to reach consumers for at least a few more months.
