Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5: Faster, Lower-Cost AI

Anthropic has released Claude Haiku 5.5, a compact model built for large-scale, budget-conscious work. The company calls it the most affordable, quickest and most capable small model it has shipped.

What it’s built for

Haiku 5.5 targets routine, high-volume jobs such as summarising, compacting context, querying databases and classifying content. Anthropic also positions it as a helper agent alongside Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 on coding projects. Its speed makes it a good match for time-critical uses like live customer support and browser automation.

Cheaper across the lineup

On average, Haiku 5.5 costs about 75% less to run than Haiku 4.5. Anthropic is also cutting Sonnet 5.5’s cache-read price in half, which should make Sonnet 5.5 roughly 20% cheaper for most agentic workloads. In addition, Claude Max and Team subscribers will receive a new monthly API credit to help them build agents and applications on the Claude Platform.
