Anouk Wipprecht’s Newest Dress Will Hypnotize You
Anouk Wipprecht is everyone’s favorite fashion technista. She combines the kind of technology we love around here — microcontrollers, single-board computers, servos, and so many blinky LEDs — with high-concept fashion to create really intriguing pieces. Her most recent garment is the Hypnotize Dress, which puts the wearer’s own mind on full display.
The key element in this creation is a g.tec Unicorn BCI-Core EEG system, which is a kind of wearable sensor array that can monitor brain activity. If you’ve ever tried one of those “mind control” toys, then you’ve used a more primitive version of this technology. It can’t truly read your mind, but it can see activity that correlates with concentration.
And though this isn’t relevant to Wipprecht’s work, I want to point out that g.tec markets this particular system for use with animals, like dogs and horses, in addition to humans. That’s pretty cool.
