Android Auto Gets a Facelift, Introduces Precise Lane-by-Lane Guidance

Android Auto is getting a major overhaul, featuring Google's Material 3 Expressive design, new media options, and (of course) a tighter integration with Gemini AI. The update involves a fresh look with new typography, updated wallpapers, and reworked controls reminiscent of those on Android phones. The layout adapts to different screen sizes and shapes, including the wacky circular infotainment system in the new Mini Cooper.

For the first time, Android Auto offers on-screen widgets that display photos, weather information, messages, music, and more. Its navigation interface incorporates 3D maps with improved road context and information, and cars with Google built‑in even get lane guidance.
