Early testing of AMD's new Epyc CPUs sporting Zen 6c against a current-generation Zen 5 CPU shows some significant improvements in per-core performance. As VideoCardz reports, the CPU beat a Zen 5 CPU at the same clock speed in single-threaded benchmarks and even kept pace with a more capable Zen 5 Epyc CPU running close to 1.5GHz faster.

AMD's Zen 5 CPUs have been the kings of gaming for some time, with the X3D chips holding the top spots for consumer desktop PCs and laptops, despite Intel's Arrow Lake Plus chips offering serious competition at much lower prices. AMD's next-generation Zen 6 chips look set to deliver similarly impressive gaming performance, if these new Epyc results are any indication.
