AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D Review

AMD is not finished with Zen 4 just yet. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is the company's latest 3D V-Cache-enabled processor, arriving four years after the first Zen 4 desktop CPUs and three years after the launch of the now-legendary 7800X3D.

The 7700X3D is essentially a slightly downclocked version of that processor. It launched at $329, representing a healthy 27% discount compared with the 7800X3D's original MSRP. However, with the 7800X3D commonly available for less than $400, the value proposition was not immediately clear. Then, just days after release, Newegg discounted the 7700X3D to $279, making this new model considerably more interesting.

You might think it is odd that AMD is releasing a "new" Zen 4-based processor in 2026, but by now, you should be used to this. We fully expect the company will still be releasing "new" binned variants in 2030, and we are not convinced we won't...
